It is busy on the work floor, you are briefly alone with a newborn and some stressful actions are required. What options do you have to still offer stress reduction? There are some tools that you can use directly to offer an extra ‘hand’. We will discuss this further in this blog.
The use of a stress reduction tool
The first thing you can do is use a tool to limit and support the child. An example of this is the Cozy Cub. This is a nice, elongated tool that you can position around the child independently. By providing limitation and support, the child immediately feels a lot more comfortable. It can then kick against the Cozy Cub while staying in place.

An extra warm hand
Now the child has more security and at the same time there is also full visibility, so that you can perform all the necessary actions. An additional option is to use a tool that acts as an extra warm ‘hand’ on the child. An example of this is the two-legged ‘beanbag’ Dandle PAL or the slightly smaller Polly PAL & Frog.

Assessing what a child needs
At that moment, you can best assess what the child needs and which tool you can use. Use the right resources in a creative way to provide limitation and support for CPAP, pressure ulcer prevention and much more.
