The R/F sensor is the most commonly used sensor with the RaySafe X2. This versatile sensor can be used for all measurements of radiography and fluoroscopy systems. The sensor has a number of features that make working with the RaySafe X2 very convenient and reliable. In this blog, we will discuss these features.
Solid state sensor
To begin with, the R/F sensor is a solid state sensor that can measure radiation very accurately using semiconductor technology. When connected to the RaySafe X2 base unit, a self-test is performed immediately, and the base unit reads the sensor’s data. Immediately after the short self-test, the X2 base unit directly displays the parameters associated with the sensor on the screen.

Parameters
A special feature of the R/F sensor is that it measures all radiological parameters in a single exposure, including HVL:
- dose
- dose rate (including graphic display)
- kVp (including graphic display)
- HVL
- total filtration
- exposure time
- pulses
- pulse rate
- dose/pulse
The R/F sensor has autotriggering and therefore performs a measurement immediately upon detection of radiation. Two useful properties that you can set are ignoring the ‘prepulse’ and the ‘stop-/delay time’. This allows you to optimize the measurement results.
R/F sensor and mAs functionality
You can measure 12 parameters in one exposure by combining the R/F sensor with the mAs cable of the RaySafe X2. The mA, mAs and mA exposure are then also displayed. The mAs measurement can also be combined with the MAM and DENT sensors.
