The RaySafe 452 measures radiation in many applications. But what exactly is leakage radiation, and how can you measure it?
Radiation emitted by the machine outside the primary beam is called leakage radiation. All X-ray tubes are subject to this form of radiation to a greater or lesser extent. In a room where staff or other people are present, it is important to check how much leakage radiation is emitted by the X-ray equipment.

Based on measurements at various points, you can check and calculate how much leakage radiation is present. These measurements are carried out in places where staff often stand, and at multiple locations around the housing of the device. The manufacturer often indicates the acceptance values for that specific device. This applies to X-ray equipment in hospitals, but also to devices in public areas (such as baggage scanners at airports) or applications in industry.
These measurements can be carried out easily and accurately with the RaySafe 452. All measurements are automatically stored in the device. Based on this, you can calculate the radiation dose for a single exposure. For example, passengers who walk past a scanner once at an airport, or employees who work in a Bucky room for a long time.
