More about this product

The Sophie is a high-quality ventilator from Fritz Stephan GmbH for newborns in the NICU. Sophie has these ventilation modes: HFO, synchronized invasive ventilation with volume guarantee, synchronized non-invasive ventilation, and CPAP.

Synchronization of ventilation is where the Sophie excels. By measuring breaths with an abdominal respiration sensor, Sophie synchronizes with the beginning and end of the breath during (non-)invasive ventilation.

The Sophie features a renewed flow measurement. The heated electronic flow sensor measures tidal volumes very accurately and contributes to optimal synchronization and volume guarantee during invasive ventilation. The sensor calibrates automatically. The design of the sensor reduces the risk of malfunctions. Disconnecting the sensor is no longer necessary.

The Sophie is also able to automatically regulate the oxygen setting using SPOC. An advanced AutoFiO2 system that can provide back-up breaths in addition to FiO2 control.

There are 2 versions of Sophie available. One version has integrated humidification, and the other version allows you to connect external humidifiers.
The Sophie with integrated humidification can use Stephan's tubing sets, which are available in disposable and reusable variants. The Sophie with external humidifier can use Stephan's disposable tubing or those of the external humidifier.
No, it is not certified for that. For external transport, we recommend the EVE.
SpO₂c stands for SpO₂ Controller. It is an advanced feature in ventilation equipment such as the Stephanie and Sophie ventilators from Fritz Stephan GmbH (and will soon be available on the EVE). This function automatically regulates the oxygen concentration (FiO₂) based on the patient's measured oxygen saturation (SpO₂). The SpO₂c uses a PID (proportional, integral, derivative) algorithm that continuously adjusts the FiO₂ based on:
• The current SpO₂ value
• The set lower and upper limits of the SpO₂ target range
• The rate at which the SpO₂ changes
• The set baseline FiO₂ and any limits

A Graseby sensor is an external respiration sensor that is placed on the abdomen of a newborn. The sensor contains a small pressure capsule with foam. Upon inhalation, the abdomen pushes against the sensor, causing the pressure to change. This pressure change is interpreted by the ventilator (such as the EVE, EVA, Stephanie, or Sophie) as a spontaneous breath.

Humidification during Jet Ventilation

Humidification during jet ventilation prevents mucosal damage and improves gas exchange. This is essential, especially for children and during long procedures.

The importance of video intubation in newborns

Train intubation skills with video intubation: doctors learn faster, and newborns benefit from a safe and effective procedure.

The RaySafe X2 Solo DENT Plus

You are probably already familiar with the RaySafe X2 Solo DENT. Now, there is also the RaySafe X2 Solo DENT Plus. The latter allows you to combine the DENT sensor and the Survey sensor on one base unit.
